I joined the Chicago Jaycees in 2004 because I was looking to meet new people, develop my professional skills, and help in the community. I involved myself immediately by volunteering on the board of the Thanksgiving Parade, which was a great opportunity for me to fulfill the reasons I joined this organization. Since then I've had the opportunity to chair numerous projects and events, including the yearly trip to the gulf coast region.
The Chicago Jaycees provides great networking, leadership training, and the chance to build lifelong friendships. We help many different great organizations throughout the year. I have been given the opportunity to plan events, give back to the community and meet several people who share the same desire to help others as I do.

I joined the Chicago Jaycees a few years ago as a way to meet new people, build my leadership skills, and give back to community. In a short time I have been able to do all of these things and more. I have made life long friendships and had wonderful experiences that probably would not have been possible if I hadn't joined the Jaycees.
Throughout the year we work with several great community organizations in the Chicago area. One of my favorite projects is our annual trip to the Gulf Coast to work with Habitat for Humanity building homes for Hurricane Katrina survivors. Words can't explain what a great time I've had bonding with my fellow Jaycees, meeting new people, learning new skills, and knowing that I've had a part in helping a deserving family get in to a new, safe home!

I joined the Chicago Jaycees at the beginning of 2009 in part to help and assist in volunteer work within the community. It has been an awesome experience since then. It has also been a great avenue to network and meet new and exciting people.

The Jaycees have given me the opportunity to volunteer with a variety of organizations and have great time along the way! I am grateful to be able to attend meetings throughout the country, enjoy workshops and training and make friends that will last a lifetime. This organization has given me project management and leadership development skills that I know will serve me in all areas of my life!

When I moved to Chicago, first on my list of things to do was join the Jaycees. I had heard about the Jaycees in my prior communities, and knew it was the organization that I wanted to join.
I have participated in community service in every community I have lived, so that was a very important factor for me. The other main reason was that I was new to the city and wanted to be sure that I was meeting like-minded people, who were not just talking about helping people, but who were truly making a difference. What I have gotten out of the organization has far surpassed my expectations. The leadership skills, the incredible friendships, the sense of satisfaction in seeing people grow personally as well as professionally and knowing I am not only helping myself, but helping the community at the same time is what makes me proud to say "I'm a Jaycee!"
